What to expect at an emergency dental visit
Emergency dental appointments are focused on getting you out of pain and protecting your teeth. We will begin by assessing what is happening, then offer treatment or advice to ease the issue – either as a permanent fix or a short-term solution to get things stable.
Depending on the problem, treatment might include:
- A temporary or permanent filling
- Antibiotics or drainage for infection
- Smoothing or repairing a broken tooth
- Emergency root canal or extraction if needed
- Re-cementing a loose crown or bridge
We will always explain your options clearly before starting anything – no pressure, no surprises.
We’re here when you need us most
Toothache does not care about timing. Whether it is a Friday night, a weekend away, or a busy workday, we understand how urgent dental pain can feel. That is why we leave space in our day for dental emergencies – so you do not have to suffer in silence or wait days for help.
Urgent care, step by step
Explain what is going on – we will assess the urgency and offer advice or a same-day appointment.
We will examine your mouth, identify the problem and discuss your treatment options clearly.
We focus on easing pain or stopping damage – either with a full solution or a temporary fix.
If needed, we will book a follow-up to complete treatment once things are settled.

A dentist you can trust!
You might be wondering...
My tooth is really hurting – can you see me today?
Yes, if you call early, we will always do our best to fit you in the same day. We keep time aside for dental emergencies, even at short notice.
What should I do if I’ve broken a tooth?
Try to keep the area clean and avoid chewing on it. If there is pain, take over-the-counter pain relief. Give us a call – we will assess whether it needs urgent care or if it can wait a day or two.
I’ve woken up with swelling – should I be worried?
Yes, swelling can be a sign of infection and needs to be looked at quickly. If the swelling is spreading or affecting your breathing or vision, go to A&E. Otherwise, call us – we will get you in as soon as we can.
I think I’ve lost a filling – is that an emergency?
If it is causing pain or making it hard to eat or drink, it is worth calling us. We will let you know if you should come in straight away or if it can wait a few days.
Will you fix the problem properly on the day?
That depends on what is going on. In many cases, yes – we can fully treat the issue in one visit. If not, we will make things comfortable and safe, then plan a follow-up to finish things properly.
How much will it cost?
We will always be clear with costs before starting any treatment. There is a fee for the emergency appointment, and any treatment needed is added on – but we will explain everything first, so there are no surprises.
