What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It is placed gently into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over time. Once healed, we attach a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture on top – depending on how many teeth need replacing.
The result is strong, stable and natural-looking.
Is a dental implant right for me?
Implants are a great option for many people, but they are not always the best fit for everyone – which is why we always begin with a proper consultation.
You may be a good candidate if you are missing one or more teeth, want a fixed long-term solution, have good general health and oral hygiene, and do not smoke (or are able to stop during healing). It is also important to have enough healthy bone to support the implant, or to be open to rebuilding it if needed.
If we find that implants aren’t the right option for you, we will explain why and talk you through other solutions – like bridges or implant-retained dentures – with the same honest, thoughtful care.
Caring for your implant
Implants are low-maintenance, but they still need care to last. Here is how to keep yours in top shape:
Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush
Clean between your teeth daily (floss or interdental brushes)
Use any tools we recommend for cleaning around the implant
Avoid smoking, which can affect healing and long-term success
Come for regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments

We start with a full assessment – including scans and x-rays – to check the health of your mouth and jaw. From there, we plan the implant position and final restoration.
The implant is placed gently into the bone, usually under local anaesthetic. Most patients say it is easier than they expected.
Over the next few months, the implant fuses with the bone (process called osseointegration). During this time, we will keep everything under review and may fit a temporary tooth.
Once the implant is secure, we attach the custom-made crown, bridge or denture on top. We will make sure it looks right, feels right and works naturally with your bite.

A fixed full-arch restoration supported by just four implants per jaw. It is ideal if you have lost most or all of your teeth – and want a full set that stays in place without a traditional denture.
Similar to All-on-4, but uses six implants for added support. This can be a better choice if you have more bone density or want extra strength and durability in your final restoration.
